Rector's Speech to Teaching Staff A.Y. 2020-2021

On 1 June 2021, the usual end-of-year meeting was held with the Teaching Staff of the University, many of whom were connected remotely to the Aula Magna. In his Introduction, Rector Nuno da Silva Gonçalves S.J. shared the data on the number of students in the A.Y. 2020-2021 (2,800), noting the 2% decrease compared to the A.Y. 2019-2020 (2,858). Concern and closeness were expressed for nations still affected by the pandemic, such as India and Brazil, from which many students come. "I am confident that the 2021-2022 academic year will bring a gradual return to normality," concluded the Rector, "aware that it will still take a lot of flexibility and that our ideal is not to go back to doing everything as before. The creativity with which we have dealt with difficulties will continue to be needed."
