In attempting to interpret the 'self,' a lexically ambiguous and conceptually differentiated term, we often draw on anthropological, psychological and philosophical discourse.
In this presentation, an attempt will instead be made to reflect on the performative nature of the formation of the self as a site of self-reflection, identity and social construction from the creation of a 'diviluality' singularis in the ritual and performative traditions of South India.
