The Permanent Seminar on the History of the Papacy is organised by the journal Archivum Historiae Pontificiae, in collaboration with the Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage of the Church, and with the sponsorship of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences. The seminar comprises monthly meetings designed to provide the scholarly community with a platform for the exploration and discussion of the history of the Papacy and the Popes, viewed from both universal and local perspectives.
The seminar particularly involves scholars and early-career researchers from foreign universities and institutions who are in Rome for study purposes. The topics addressed cover the history of the Papacy, the Popes, and the city of Rome, spanning various fields of historical, art-historical, and archaeological research. These discussions encompass a wide chronological range, from antiquity to the present day.
