- La Santa Sede e gli Stati Uniti: come ricostruire l'Asia Pacifica
The last seminar of this Academic Year will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 5 p.m. in Room F007 of the Frascara Palace. Olivier Sibre of the Georges Pompidou Institute and partner in the SIRICE (Sorbonne Identités, relations internationales et civilisations de l'Europe) project will analyze how the Asian Pacific countries were reconstructed by identifying their main protagonists, between 1945 and the Korean War. In this regard, the archives of the pontificate of Pius XII are a valuable source for assessing the Holy See's increased action in all areas of war assistance and reconstruction of war-affected countries. Among these, the Asia-Pacific area is a particularly significant case study because it allows us to assess the extent and implications of political cooperation between the Holy See and the U.S. military and authorities.
