LE RELAZIONI POLITICO – ECCLESIASTICHE TRA LA SANTA SEDE E LA SERBIA DAL 1878 AL 1918

A volume of Milosav Z. Đoković, Le relazioni politico – ecclesiastiche tra la Santa Sede e la Serbia dal 1878 al 1918, is presented. This volume reconstructs, on the basis of numerous archival documents, especially Vatican ones (many of which are published for the first time) relations between the Holy See and Serbia after the Berlin Congress and its independence (1878) until the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (1918). Very important topics are covered: the question of the concordat (the long period of negotiations that preceded the signature in 1914, the ratification and its short life), the relations and correspondence between the Serbian court and the Apostolic Palace, the views of Serbian sovereigns and statesmen in Rome, and finally the aid of the Holy See in favor of the Serbian people during the First World War.
