- Padre Matteo Ricci: via di pace e di amicizia tra la sapienza Cristiana e la civiltà Confuciana
In 1582, the Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci left for China with the desire to proclaim the Gospel without imposing it, rather by totally immersing himself (not without obstacles of all kinds and from all sides) in a millenary civilization, seeking in Confucianism the common elements of the two then very distant worlds. Through dialogue based on friendship lived with humanity, reciprocity, concord, and benevolence, Matteo Ricci pursued this path of openness and dialogue as a profoundly human need born of contemplation of a world in which it is possible to establish bonds of peace and friendship between different civilizations.
