UN CONCILIO DI OGGI MEMORIA, RECEZIONE E PRESENTE DEL CONCILIO DI FIRENZE

by Riccardo Burigana - Pierantonio Piatti

The Council of Florence (1439) was an event in which Christians were able to meet to reflect together on the Church and her mission, in a perspective of unity in which to bring together different traditions, without losing sight of their own theological, spiritual, liturgical, of faith experience.

Fruit of the collaboration between the Archdiocese of Florence, the Theological Faculty of Central Italy, the Study Center for Ecumenism in Italy and the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, the volume presented brings together the contributions of 18 Scholars, belonging to different Christian confessions, which re-interpreted, on the occasion of its 580th anniversary (14309-2019), the Florentine conciliar affair in the long duration of the history of ecumenical relations between the Churches.

The memory, reception and present of the Council of Florence are re-proposed and examined in the light of the theological heritage, the ecclesial mandate and the prophetic significance of that privileged conciliar meeting: a model of unity inclusive of different ecclesiologies, which becomes promise of a diversity reconciled through ecclesial charity.
