Mission

The Library contributes to the educational mission of the institution to which it belongs, maintaining a documentary heritage of great value, keeping collections updated and promoting accessibility to knowledge.

Still to this day, the Gregorian University is at the service of the universal Church, continuing its centuries old tradition also reaffirmed by the Pontiffs, and remains faithful to the Ignatian intuition that conceived it as “Universitas omnium Nationum”.

After more than four centuries from the founding of the Roman College, the aims of an educational system resulting from long experience and tradition remain unchanged, albeit in step with the times; it is characterized by high academic quality, universal horizons and a close link with the modern world, and it is aimed at excellence in studies, spiritual growth and integral person formation.

The mission of the Pontifical Gregorian University is expressed in the Second Article of the General Statue – the Statuti generali della Pontificia Università Gregoriana, approved by the Dicastery for Culture and Education on February 11th, 2024.
