TSM012  EUCHARISTIC CONTROVERSIES (A.A. 2024/2025)

Objectives: Introduce students to basic principles of Eucharistic theology and familiarize them with the historical development of that theology; sharpen their analytical skills through engagement with complex theological texts.

Learning outcomes: Students should show a grasp of the sources of the Catholic theology of the Eucharist. They should be able to analyze competing theological arguments and express their own arguments with clarity, evidence, and logical coherence.

We will include patristic and medieval controversies as well as the competing visions of Luther and the Council of Trent. A wide variety of different theological texts will be included so as to stretch students’ analytic abilities.
