SL2016  LEADERSHIP III: STRATEGIC PASTORAL PLANNING AND SYNODALITY (A.A. 2024/2025)

Objectives: This course takes a close look at synodality with a special focus on its practical implications. It will revisit the key principles of synodality as highlighted in recent church teachings, and also explore the actual lived experiences of synodality in students' diverse local contexts.

Learning Outcomes: Students are not limited to notional learning, but are accompanied in a path of acquiring appropriate skills.
Contents:
The course will discuss the question of what synodality means in practice, both at the personal level in terms of pastoral attitudes, behaviors, and habits, as well as at the institutional level in terms of culture, structures, and systems. The aim of the course will be to help students develop the personal dispositions and competencies for a synodal church, and consider how synodality could be enhanced in their own communities. Particular emphasis will be given to competencies in the area of participatory pastoral planning, communal discernment, consultation and dialogue, and synodal leadership.

Methodology: The in-class activities will be participatory in nature, including not only lectures but also hands-on group activities, reflections, and conversations.

Means of evalution: Class participation and final exam.
