XP2009  PRACTICAL WEEK 2: LISTENING TO VICTIMS (A.Y. 2024/2025)

Objectives: This module will introduce the topic of “active listening”, bringing the students to reflect on their commitment to listening to the people who disclose a traumatic experience, such as an abuse. The course will also introduce the concept of “trauma-informed” listening.

Learning Outcomes: After this practical week, the students will be able to listen to victims’ disclosures in a respectful, proactive way.

Content: Listening to victims; believing victims and reacting in an adequate way; the characteristics of trauma bonding and the barriers to disclosure. Students practice how to document disclosure situations.

Means of evaluation: Evaluation will be based on class participation and reflections.
