XP2007  PREVENTION - HOW TO CREATE SAFE AND SACRED PLACES (A.Y. 2024/2025)

Objectives: Students will receive knowledge about the concept of prevention and make them reflect on how establishing prevention environments is crucial and inspired from cultural elements.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students will be able to create a prevention plan that is adapted to their cultures and environments. They will develop a culturally sensitive prevention plan for a specific school, hospital, residential home, diocese, congregation, etc.

Content: Various approaches to prevention and the elements which make them effective; (SWOT) analysis of existing prevention programs in the various cultures and professional fields with regard to their effectiveness; risk-analysis in the students’ institutions, such as schools, residential facilities (boarding schools, children’s homes, etc.), hospitals, formation houses, parishes, universities, and communities.

Methodology: The course will combine lectures, readings, and seminar discussion.

Means of evaluation: Evaluation will be based on class participation and written papers.
